Sobriety statistics can feel overwhelming, even discouraging. If you’ve ever looked them up, you know how easy it is to feel like the odds are stacked against you. But here’s the truth: those numbers are just that—numbers.
Many people view relapse as being caused by external triggers—stress, loneliness, or even a particular place. While those factors play a role, they are often surface-level symptoms of a deeper issue.
Self-sabotage is one of those silent dangers in recovery that can creep in without us realizing it. It’s the little decisions that seem harmless at first but slowly build up and jeopardize all the progress we’ve made
Taking ownership means acknowledging that, while you didn’t choose your struggles, you do get to choose how you respond to them. It’s about saying, “This is my life, and I’m in charge of where it goes from here.”
